PROJECTS THAT IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF PEOPLE’S LIVES 

Throughout the last 21 years, Green Man has supported positive change in the local community. Whether that’s fundraising for those affected by Storm Dennis in 2020, donating money to Local Food Banks in response to the cost of living crisis, supporting sports and hobbyist clubs, local outdoor community gatherings, developing Cwmdu Village Hall, supporting local Schools and sourcing equipment to help people with disabilities. Our aim is to ‘spread the good stuff,’ and bring people together.  Green Man festival and Green Man Trust collectively have raised over £500K for community projects over the years.

So far we have responded to local communities who have asked for help and we have done what we could at the time but over the years the needs of the community around us have changed. So in keeping with the spirit of positive social change that guides our work, we’re excited to announce that Green Man will be adding to its ongoing community support by introducing a new LOCAL COMMUNITY FUND through its charitable arm, the Green Man Trust to extend our support.

Our new Community Fund aims to support activities that address an area of social need, encourage inclusivity and help our communities to become more resilient. We believe that people understand what’s needed in their local area better than anyone. So it’s important to us that your project involves your community in the design, development and delivery of the activities you’re planning.

Projects may include: 

• Group social and cultural activities that encourage inclusivity
• Recreational activities that promote health and well-being for the  elderly and young people, 
• Improving accessibility for people with a disability,
• Buying equipment, undertaking small repairs, re-decorating shared public spaces 
• Support towards services bills for public places that bring people together
• Activity that tackles loss, isolation or loneliness, 
• Activity to encourage change and support for people that experience discrimination and/or work to challenge discrimination and/or people experiencing financial hardship.

TYPE OF PROJECTS WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for projects that improve the lives of people in our communities. We know that the cost of living crisis has made things particularly tough and we are here to help.

So it’s important to us that your project involves your community in the design, development and delivery of the activities you’re planning.

Projects may include: 

• Improvements to shared spaces and infrastructure in your area, 
• New social and cultural activities,
• Group recreational activities that promote health and well-being for young people and the elderly, 
• Improving accessibility for people with a disability,
• Buying equipment, refurbishing furniture, re-decorating spaces,
• Ideas aimed at helping children and young people get new vocational skills and/or get involved in stimulating artistic activities,
• Support towards heating bills for places that bring people together
• Activity that tackles loss, isolation or loneliness and supports people that have experienced abuse, people that experience discrimination and/or work to challenge discrimination and/or people experiencing financial hardship.

This is not an exhaustive list. It is merely a guide that we hope will inspire ideas to bring positive social change to your community. 

HOW MUCH YOU CAN APPLY FOR

Grants available range from £500 to £2,000. 

AREA

Powys – Applicants from the local community who live locally, near the festival.

ELIGIBILITY 

Voluntary and community organisations, local authority groups, community centres, recreational and leisure centres, schools (in particular special needs schools), youth groups and warm spaces.  

We will not accept applications for: 

• activity that has already taken place or that starts before our decision has been communicated to you. 
• individuals   
• sole traders   
• organisations focussed on making profits and sharing these profits privately – including companies limited by shares, organisations without the right asset locks, or organisations that can pay profits to directors or shareholders
• organisations based outside Powys 
• feasibility studies, public consultation and activity related to policy making
• faith or political groups and/or activity that promotes religious or political views
• applications made by one organisation on behalf of another   

APPLICATION DEADLINE

Midnight, 30 April 2024

HOW TO APPLY

Please send us your application to info@greenmantrust.org.uk, in a document no longer than 2 sides of A4, font size no smaller than 11pt, detailing the following: 

• Name of your project
• Where your project will take place
• Who your project is for and the expected number of beneficiaries
• Your idea – what you would like to do
• The impact of your project – how will it improve life in your community
• When your project will take place and for how long
• Total project cost and how much you’re applying for
• You can include up to 1 link to a webpage or video relevant to your project or up to 2 images (file size no bigger than 2MB)

We will also need a budget detailing your predicted expenditure and income, including any support in-kind. We are happy to be the sole funder of your project and you do not need to have match funding in place when you apply.
